One customer approached Inter-Ion with a common challenge: aggressive chemicals were attacking the glass viewing surfaces, reducing visibility and shortening the service life of the equipment.
To solve this issue, Inter-Ion developed a process for applying a clear PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy) coating directly to the glass. One of the most technically demanding aspects of the project was achieving a durable bond between the fluoropolymer coating and the glass substrate while maintaining exceptional optical clarity.
The completed flow indicators, ranging from 2 to 10 inches in diameter, were designed to withstand high-temperature service and harsh chemical environments without compromising visibility. Following production, the customer completed performance testing while Inter-Ion ensured each component was carefully packaged to protect the precision-coated surfaces during shipment.

High-Performance PFA Lining for Cast Union Bodies
Reliable process instrumentation is critical throughout oil and gas operations, where equipment must safely handle corrosive media while maintaining long-term performance.
Inter-Ion partnered with a multidivisional industrial manufacturing company to improve the quality and reliability of cast union bodies after the customer experienced ongoing issues with a previous supplier. Poor coating quality and excessive rejection rates created production delays and inconsistent product performance.
Inter-Ion applied a precision PFA lining specifically engineered to resist aggressive chemicals while protecting the base material from corrosion.
Every component undergoes dielectric strength testing to verify the integrity of the coating. This inspection confirms that the coating is free from pinholes, voids or defects that could allow static electricity to accumulate and potentially create sparks in hazardous operating environments.

Ryton® Coatings (PPS) for Pressurized Float Assemblies
Pressurized float assemblies used throughout the energy industry require coatings capable of withstanding continuous exposure to aggressive chemicals and elevated temperatures.
For this application, Inter-Ion applied a specialized Ryton® (PPS – Polyphenylene Sulfide) coating system selected for its excellent chemical resistance and long-term durability. We are proud to say we were the first to develop this application process and gave feedback to the material manufacturer on how the material behaves during application.
